How 2020 gifted me the lesson of impermanence.
We're almost to the end of the year & I'd like to say thank you to every one of you who has spent this year with me! Even if it was just a moment, it's been amazing to connect with so many of you online & in person.
I know many of us will probably be happy to say goodbye to 2020, with all it's ups and downs. Thinking back on this past year, one lesson that stands out for me, is the lesson of impermanence.
Throughout this year, it's felt *almost* impossible to find stable ground, through every new twist, lockdowns & restriction tiers, studio shut downs & with so many plans & expectations cancelled, I've often found myself feeling groundless. Stuck in cycles of looking for stability outside or in future plans, only to have those expectations turned upside down.
Change is the only certainty.
It's taken this year to help me really get to know impermanence, to come to a deep acceptance of it & understand its teachings.
As Carl Jung famously said (& I've quoted before) "who looks outside dreams, who looks inside awakes".
Rather than looking outside to find my own sense of stability, this year has forced me to look deeper within, to find what is unbreakable, what is constant within me, to find ease within emptiness & comfort in the constant flux.
Rather than looking to the future for enjoyment, for stability, these things can only be found in the present moment.
Wishing you all a joy filled new year!
