Things I do to support my mental health every week

#1 has to be my practice! It’s a vitamin not a pain killer so you need to create consistency to consistently see results.

My daily practice changes a lot from day to day - I approach each of my practices from a nervous system regulation perspective so each day I come into my practice to give myself exactly what I need in that moment.

What are the essentials?

🌻 Somatic safety & resilience techniques. Non-negotiable. I incorporate these into a practice every day, or just in moments of stress to bring me straight into my body as a place of safety, allowing me to bring an energy of ease into challenging moments, whether it’s public speaking, a disagreement or a moment of anxiety.

🌻 Dynamic practices. Esp during periods of stress or anxiety, I make sure to give my body time to move, release anxiety & complete the stress cycle so I can come into a place of rest & relaxation.

🌻 Breathing practices. I start with these each morning & will tap into them in the day any time I need a quick reset so I can quickly tap into a place of greater clarity & regulate my nervous system.

🌻 Practices for rest. Some days, rest is effortless. Some days, I make sure I choose restful practices like nidra, meditation & yin, only at specific times once I’ve completed the stress cycle with a dynamic practice.

🌻 Understanding my own psychology. Practising self observation & understanding my own patterns - whether patterns of thoughts, beliefs or emotions - gives me the knowledge & space to notice when I’m falling into a pattern & consciously step back, observe & choose to change the narrative.

🌻 Yogic Philosophy. Connecting with the philosophy behind the practices connects me to something deeper than just what I can see. This is where I get to connect with something greater than myself, to what sits beneath all the layers of identity, that is always well.
