Welcome to the 5 day Yoga Nidra Meditation course.
Day 4: Emotions
Welcome to day 4 of this 5 day experience!
Today, we begin the journey into witnessing our own emotions.
Our emotions are our biggest drivers to action.
Being able to experience the full spectrum of emotion brings color to our lives and forms one of the foundations of the human experience.
Emotions come as messengers with a gift.
They come to provide us with information on our internal or external environment.
To let us know when we need to take a new direction.
They show us which parts of us need loving attention.
Unfortunately, many of us are unable to witness our emotions & can become stuck in a cycle of repressing or over-expressing, trying to impose them on others. In either case, we have an inability to simply sit with our own emotions.
This leaves us unable to hear the message. Instead reacting instinctively to try to get rid of the intensity.
When we can sit with our emotions, witness them from a neutral space, the message becomes clear & the emotions change.
We can see the bigger picture.
Now we begin to notice their transitory nature.
Upon noticing their transitory nature, we make contact with that which does not change: the awareness that sits behind.
Reflections
When you begin to feel the rising of an emotion, can you take a moment to witness before reacting?
Alternatively, try this with an emotion that has frequently been present for you that you'd like to work with.
Where do you feel this emotion in your body?
Can you give yourself the time to sit with this without following the thoughts/stories attached to it?
Does this emotion have an age? Do any images that arise with it?
What message could this emotion be trying to give?
